Description: Young people account for half of all new STD infections and the rates are rising in Utah at alarming rates. STD and prevention information are important but many educators may be wary of discussing these topics with their students. This presentation will give a brief overview of the most common STDs in Utah with local and national statistics; discuss navigating the Utah State Board of Education Law and Policy on Human Sexuality Instruction: and provide resources for more information on STDs for educators to increase their confidence in being able to share this valuable information in a medically accurate, non-judgmental and sensitive manner.
